Money tree is a plant of the Crassulaceae family and the genus Sedum. It is actually very simple to propagate money tree by cuttings. First, choose a strong and upright money tree branch with a length of about 3 cm. Cut the branch with scissors and remove the two leaves at the bottom of the branch. After drying for two days, the cuttings will be successful. 1. Cutting time The cuttings of money tree are generally carried out in warm seasons, usually in spring or autumn. It is not only simple to operate, but also has a very high survival rate. In summer and winter, due to temperature reasons, it is difficult for the cuttings to survive. 2. Cutting steps When propagating money tree cuttings, choose strong branches and leave 3-5 cm. Choose full and strong branches, which are easy to survive. Cut the branches into 5 cm sections and leave two leaves in each section. This way, less water is lost during cuttings and photosynthesis can be carried out. The soil for cuttings can be made by mixing one part humus, one part perlite and one part vermiculite and then planting. This kind of loose and breathable soil is generally used for cuttings of money plant. Although the nutrient content is low, it is breathable and moisturizing, making it very suitable for cuttings of succulent plants. Vermiculite and river sand can also be used for cuttings. Before cuttings, soak the money tree in rooting water for ten minutes, dry it and then you can cut it. The money tree soaked in rooting water is easier to take root. If there is no rooting water, you can soak it in clean water. The main purpose is to replenish the moisture in the body of the money tree to facilitate rooting. 3. Maintenance after cutting When grafting the money tree, be sure to keep it away from light and spray it every day. Do not water it during the grafting process because the money tree has not yet grown roots and cannot absorb a large amount of nutrients. Most of the water is still absorbed through the leaves, so replenish the moisture of the soil and the money tree through spraying. Generally, it will take root in two weeks. |
