Suitable time for planting konjac

Konjac can be planted in winter and spring, that is, winter sowing and spring sowing. Winter sowing is from December to around the Spring Festival, while spring sowing is from the vernal equinox to the Qingming Festival. The best planting time is around the Qingming Festival in spring. At this time, the soil temperature continues to rise, which is conducive to the germination of konjac seeds.

Konjac planting methods and key points

1. Site selection: Choose a piece of land with deep soil, fertile, loose soil, and rich organic matter content, then deep plow to a depth of about 30cm, combine it with tillage, and apply fully decomposed farmyard manure.

2. Planting: Choose a sunny day to start sowing, prepare the ridges and dig furrows or holes, sow the seeds at a row spacing of 0.5-0.6 meters and a plant spacing of 0.3-0.5 meters. When sowing, sow in the furrow at a 45-degree angle. The top buds should face upwards on the slope, and then cover with a layer of soil.

Key points for konjac management

1. Shading: Konjac prefers a shady and humid environment, so during its growth period, it is necessary to take measures to shade and protect against strong light, such as intercropping crops with lush branches and leaves, such as corn and sorghum.

2. Top dressing: When the konjac seedlings are 20-30cm tall, the first top dressing can be carried out. Apply 4000 kg of farmyard manure per mu of konjac. When the konjac enters the tuber formation stage, apply 4000 kg of farmyard manure per mu to complete the second top dressing.

3. Diseases: The main diseases faced by konjac are soft rot and white rot, for which targeted prevention and control should be carried out. After the konjac emerges from the ground, you can spray 500 times of thiophanate-methyl solution once a week for 3-5 consecutive times.
