Common Pests of Red Flowering Tree and Their Control

Common Pests of Red Flowering Tree and Their Control

Aphid pest of red safflower

Description of the condition

Aphids are a relatively common pest. Both red flower sempervivum and other flower plants are easily infected by aphids. Aphids mainly harm the young branches and leaves of red flower sempervivum. In the early stage, aphids will attach to the young leaves and branches of red flower sempervivum and suck their juice, which prevents the red flower sempervivum from growing normally. If not controlled, the number of aphids will increase and spread to other branches. In the later stage, basically the whole plant will be infested with aphids, stealing the nutrients of the red flower sempervivum, preventing it from growing normally, or even withering and dying.

Prevention and treatment methods

Although aphids are very harmful, their prevention and control is not as difficult as imagined. In the early stages, you can eliminate them by just spraying some soapy water. If it is in the later stage, you can use diesel emulsion to spray it to eliminate aphids on the plants. In addition, the eggs can be eliminated during the winter to prevent more aphids from being born next spring.

Red flower worm pest

Description of the condition

The geometrid moth, also known as the noctuid moth, mainly harms the leaves of the red-flowered sempervivum. It usually attaches to the bottom of the leaves of the red-flowered sempervivum where it is not easily found, and then feeds on the leaves. This pest usually appears when the temperature is relatively high from May to October. In severe cases, the entire plant's leaves will be eaten by the geometrid moth in less than a week.

Prevention and treatment methods

There are many methods of prevention and control. First of all, the most commonly used method in gardens is to attract its natural enemies, so that the natural enemies of the geometrid moth will eat the geometrid moth. This method is only suitable for the early stage when there are few geometrid moths and the harm is relatively small; secondly, we can also use light to lure geometrid moths. The moths lured by this method are generally adults, and it has no effect on the eggs of geometrid moths. The advantage of light lure is that it will not cause any harm to the red flower sempervivum; finally, we can also use chemical methods and spray drugs to prevent and control it. Based on the actual situation, multiple methods are generally used together.
