The best time to plant autumn cabbage

Cabbage is both heat-resistant and cold-resistant, and grows very fast, so the planting time is very wide and can be carried out all year round. It is usually planted in spring and autumn each year. The planting time in autumn is between August and September, and the most suitable growth temperature is 20 to 28℃.

Planting methods and key points of autumn cabbage

1. Seed treatment: Before sowing, place the cabbage seeds in the sun for three days, then soak them in warm water for 5 hours, and then place them in a constant temperature of 25°C. They will germinate after three days.

2. Sowing: Prepare loose, fertile, well-drained soil, disinfect it in advance to avoid insect eggs in it, then sprinkle the germinated seeds in the moist soil, cover with a layer of fine soil, and small sprouts will grow out soon.

3. Transplanting: When the small buds grow three leaves, they can be transplanted. When transplanting, pay attention to controlling a reasonable density, with a plant spacing of about 40 cm. In addition, you can water once after transplanting, and then increase the watering frequency appropriately.

Key points for autumn cabbage management

1. During the growth period of autumn cabbage, mainly organic fertilizer is applied. One week before heading, about 2,000 kg of farmyard manure and 20 kg of urea are used per mu of land. Wait until the late stage of heading for the second topdressing, using 1,000 kg of manure fertilizer and 5 kg of urea per mu of land.

2. After planting autumn cabbage, you need to pay attention to the time and temperature. When we plant in the north, we need to do a good job of insulation to avoid frost damage. At the same time, we must prevent and control diseases and pests. If insects are found, they must be dealt with in time to avoid eating leaves and affecting cabbage yields.
