Where do blueberry trees grow?

Blueberry trees are suitable for growing in areas with an altitude between 900 meters and 2300 meters. Blueberry trees have high requirements for the soil environment and are suitable for growing in places with sufficient light. Blueberry trees mainly grow in areas with a warm and cool climate and are often found in coniferous forests and pastures.

Currently, blueberry trees are widely planted in Heilongjiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Inner Mongolia and other provinces in my country. In addition, blueberry trees are also cultivated in many foreign regions, such as North Korea, Japan, and North America. Blueberry trees have become one of the main fruit tree varieties planted in the United States.

Blueberry tree growing environment

1. Temperature conditions: When planting blueberry trees, you need to ensure that the environment is cool and humid. Different varieties of blueberry trees have different temperature requirements and different varieties have different cold resistance.

2. Soil conditions: When planting blueberry trees, it is important to note that they are suitable for growing in loose sandy soil, and that they also need to have good air permeability and drainage, and the pH value of the soil should be kept between 4.0 and 5.5. Such soil is conducive to the growth of blueberry trees.

3. Light conditions: When planting blueberry trees, blueberries like to grow in places with sufficient light and need to be exposed to sunlight. If the blueberry trees lack sunlight, it will affect their growth.

4. Soil pH: 6-7.5 is the suitable planting area. In areas where the soil pH is less than 5.5 or greater than 8.0, the growth and results of cherries are easily affected. The soil pH range should also be selected based on actual production and experiments. For example, in the Loess Plateau in Gansu, the calcareous soil with a soil pH of 8.5 has good growth and results for sweet cherries.

5. Chilling hours required for growth : 600-1400h is the suitable planting area. Most cherry varieties require more than 800h of chilling hours. With the progress of cherry breeding, some varieties that require less than 400h of chilling hours have been bred, such as Royali, Roymin Tulear, Brooks, and Fuchen.
