Diseases and Pests of Superbus Superbus and Their Control

Root Rot of Superbus and Its Control

Root rot is a disease that is very easy to occur in Superbus. As the name suggests, this disease is caused by root rot. It is not very obvious at the beginning, and it is not easy for us to detect. When we find seedlings that are not growing well or are abnormal, we must check whether the Superbus has root rot. In the middle and late stages of the disease, the Superbus begins to turn yellow slowly, and the roots gradually rot. The final outcome is undoubtedly death. Therefore, the key to root rot is the early stage of the disease. Once discovered, timely treatment will avoid such a thing from happening. The prevention and control method of root rot of Superbus is very simple. Root rot will spread. Therefore, after finding diseased Superbus, sprinkle a layer of wood ash or common lime around it in time to prevent the spread of the disease. Then, pull out the diseased plants and spray the medicine to remove the bacteria.

Ustilago smut and its control

The name of powdery mildew comes from the fact that this disease causes the plant to grow nodules with black powder inside. Ustilago mainly harms the inflorescence and fruits of Dianthus superbus, preventing it from growing complete fruits, affecting the value of the plant and even causing certain economic losses in severe cases. The prevention and control of smut should start with sowing the seeds of Dianthus superbus. Before sowing the seeds, soak them in cold water, then rinse them in hot water for one to two seconds, dry them, and then sow them. This can greatly reduce the chance of smut. If any plants with smut are found among the mature plants, they must be pulled out in time and sprayed with drugs for sterilization.

Pests of Dianthus superbus and armyworm and their control

Both caterpillars and armyworms affect the growth of Superbus by damaging the roots of Superbus, so they are discussed together here. When caterpillars and armyworms are found on Superbus plants, there is no need to pull out the plants. Just spray the plants with pesticides for sterilization and disinfection. In serious cases, spray the pesticides every other week until all the pests are gone.
