Time and method of cutting hydrangea

Hydrangea cutting time

It is suitable to carry out cuttings of Hydrangea in early March in spring. The temperature is suitable at this time, which can improve the survival rate. The air humidity is also relatively stable in the later period, which is also more conducive to the growth of seedlings.

Hydrangea cutting method

1. Cutting selection

Choose one-year-old hydrangea branches as cuttings, focusing on those with vigorous growth, strong branches and no diseases or pests. They should be about 10 cm long, cut diagonally at the bottom, and remove most of the leaves on top, or cut the leaves in half to prevent water evaporation.

2. Matrix Preparation

Hydrangea is not very demanding on the substrate when it is cut. Just ensure that the soil is loose and breathable. River sand or nutrient soil can be used as the cutting substrate. Before using the substrate, it can be exposed to the sun for 1-2 days and disinfected.

3. Cutting method

Spread the substrate flat on the seedbed, or put the substrate into a flowerpot, insert the prepared hydrangea cuttings into the substrate, water it thoroughly after insertion, keep the soil moist, and wait for the hydrangea to take root and sprout.

Maintenance of hydrangea after cutting

After the hydrangea is cut, water it thoroughly in time, place it in a ventilated place without direct sunlight, and control the ambient temperature between 18-28 degrees. It will take about a month to take root. After the branches take root, gradually increase the light.
