Poplar cutting timeThere are many times for poplar cuttings, which can be carried out in spring, summer and autumn. And the cuttings selected will be different depending on the time of cutting. In spring, branches of the same year are selected, in summer, semi-lignified branches are used, and in autumn, lignified branches that have stopped growing are used. Poplar cutting method1. Prepare branches Choose the strongest poplar branches with full buds, cut them to a length of about 16-18 cm. Do not choose branches with diseases and insect pests, as they will affect the survival rate. Soak the cut cuttings in water for 1-2 days to promote the softening of the cortex. 2. Cutting method Prepare a well-ventilated sand bed and insert the poplar cuttings into the substrate. The depth of the cuttings should account for two-thirds of the branches. After cuttings, compact the surrounding soil, water it thoroughly, and wait for rooting and sprouting. Poplar cutting maintenanceAfter the poplar cuttings are taken, water them in small amounts several times to allow them to take root quickly. Then place them in a ventilated place and provide an environment of 20-25 degrees. Wait for 50 days to see if they survive. After the cuttings are successful, water them once every 5 days. If there is a lack of water, the cuttings will die, and too much water will also affect the permeability of the soil. |
