What to do if pear trees drop leaves early

Measures to prevent and control early leaf drop in pear trees

Spray Bordeaux mixture

Bordeaux liquid should be sprayed during the fruit expansion period of pear trees. This can prevent diseases and rain erosion. It also supplements the copper and calcium elements in the leaves of the pear trees, promotes the pear trees to grow more vigorously, and the leaves are darker green and thicker, thus reducing early leaf fall.

Strengthen water and fertilizer management

During the period of fruit expansion and flower bud differentiation of pear trees, sufficient nutrition supply must be ensured. Before and after the wheat harvest, the weather was dry and the temperature was high, which seriously affected the water supply of the pear trees. It is extremely important to strengthen water and fertilizer management in a timely manner. On the one hand, potassium sulfate-type high-nitrogen, medium-phosphorus, and high-potassium three-element compound fertilizer should be applied in time, and water should be applied appropriately after topdressing. On the other hand, you can spray potassium nitrate compound fertilizer, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and other fertilizers on the leaves, which have the advantages of fast effect, less loss and fast absorption. This is beneficial to promote the thickening, bright green and shiny leaves, thereby reducing leaf fall of pear trees.

Controlling the use of organophosphorus pesticides

Organophosphorus pesticides can irritate pear tree leaves, especially when used in high concentrations, too many times, or sprayed during high temperature periods, all of which can cause the tree to drop a large number of leaves. Therefore, organophosphorus pesticides must be used strictly and reasonably, and the concentration must be controlled reasonably. The appropriate time for spraying is before 10 am and after 4 pm. It should be avoided during the high temperature at noon. If other pesticides can be used as substitutes, it is best to replace organophosphorus pesticides with biological pesticides or pyrethroid pesticides.
