How to Make Potted Ivy Grow Out of the Pot

How to Make Potted Ivy Grow Out of the Pot

1. Change pots and soil in time

When changing the soil, it is best to use a mixture of leaf soil, sand and garden soil. The best time is at the end of spring and the beginning of summer. After that, you can take it out of the original pot and put it into a new pot, but the prerequisite is to add a layer of decomposed fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, and use sterilized scissors to cut off the roots that are too long and too dense. Next, add enough water and then place it in a ventilated and cool place. As soon as the new branches grow out, you can start normal maintenance.

2. Good maintenance environment

Although ivy is a shade-loving plant, it can still be exposed to sunlight for a whole day to allow the plant to undergo photoreactivity. Then you must ensure that the temperature is between 18 and 20 degrees, and not exceed 35 degrees, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and growth will stagnate. So when summer comes, you need to avoid direct sunlight. At this time, you should not only shade it, but also cool it down appropriately, and ensure good ventilation and scattered light, because if there is no light for a long time, its growth will be affected.

3. Maintain humidity

It likes a slightly humid environment, so it is important to replenish water in time, especially during the period of vigorous growth, and the water supply must be guaranteed, because the flower soil needs to be moist at this time, otherwise it will start to shed leaves. If the ground nearby is a little dry, you can also spray water on the ground to increase the humidity.

4. Reasonable fertilization

If you want it to bloom successfully, nutrition is indispensable, and the best way to obtain nutrition is to fertilize it. Especially during the growing season, it is necessary to ensure that fertilizer is applied once every 15 days, but be careful not to make the fertilizer too concentrated. It needs to be appropriately diluted with water. Organic fertilizer should be the main fertilizer. But if it is a hot summer or a cold winter, you need to stop fertilizing, otherwise it will have the opposite effect.
