When and how to repot jasmine

Jasmine repotting time

It is recommended to repot jasmine in spring from March to April. At this time, the plant has not yet grown and sprouted, consumes less nutrients, and the climate is relatively mild and suitable. Repotting at this time will have less impact on the plant, and repotting can promote recovery growth.

Jasmine repotting method and steps

1. Remove from the pot : Before removing from the pot, water the soil thoroughly, then wait for a day or two, and change the pot when the soil is neither wet nor dry. When removing from the pot, tap the outer wall of the flowerpot to separate the soil from the pot better, then turn the flowerpot upside down, hold the rhizome, and take it out carefully.

2. Prune the roots : first dig out the plant, shake off the soil around the roots to expose most of the plant's roots, then cut off the dead and rotten roots, disinfect the roots in a solution of carbendazim, and then place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

3. Prepare potting soil : Prepare a larger flower pot with good air permeability. Choose new soil that is soft, fertile and well-ventilated. You can mix it thoroughly with leaf mold and garden soil.

4. Plant in the pot : Place the plant in the middle of the prepared soil, fill the soil after the roots are expanded, compact the soil lightly, water the soil thoroughly, and finally place it in a place with diffuse light and good ventilation.

Jasmine care after repotting

After the jasmine is repotted, it needs to be placed in a diffused light and ventilated environment and watered with a small amount of water. Wait until new leaves grow, and then gradually increase the amount of watering, and water only when the plant is dry. If properly maintained, it will adapt to the pot in about a week.
