Can Chlorophytum comosum be grown in water?

The thousand-leaf spider plant has a compact and beautiful shape, with small and cute leaves. It is suitable for hanging basket potted plants, and of course it can also be grown in hydroponics. Hydroponic flowers have many advantages, and Chlorophytum hydroponica is also a good ornamental plant.

Utensil selection

When growing Chlorophytum comosum in water, you need to choose a suitable container, preferably a transparent glass container, so that it is easier to observe the growth condition of Chlorophytum comosum, whether the water needs to be changed, and how the roots are growing. When growing hydroponically, choose a shorter container with a larger belly, so that it looks better together. If you are interested, you can also choose a fish tank, which allows you to view flowers and raise fish, killing two birds with one stone. You can also choose wide-mouth glass bottles, glass cups and other containers as hydroponic vessels.

In the early stage of hydroponics, you can choose a small container. As the Chlorophytum comosum grows, you can change to a larger container.

Culture medium

It is also important to choose the nutrient solution when growing Chlorophytum comosum hydroponically. When hydroponically cultivating, it is best to use a special nutrient solution for soilless foliage plants, and the water in the container can be changed every few days. In summer, you don’t need nutrient solution, just use ordinary water. The clean water needs to be settled in advance and the water can be changed once a week.

Hydroponics Tips

Choose a suitable container and pour the prepared nutrient solution into it. Remove the soil from the potted Chlorophytum comosum, wash the roots with clean water, cut off the old leaves and roots, and trim it to make it suitable for hydroponics. Place the Chlorophytum comosum in a container and shape it.

When growing Chlorophytum comosum in water, be careful not to add too much water, just enough water to reach the root and rhizome. You can apply some liquid fertilizer, but the fertilizer should not be too high.
