Golden melon planting method and time planting technology points

Golden melon is suitable for planting time

Golden melon likes a warm environment, so the planting time is generally chosen in early March. After the seedlings grow out, the temperature begins to rise, which is suitable for the later growth of the golden melon. The specific planting time needs to be adjusted according to the different regions. For example, the East China region needs to be planted from the end of March to April.

Golden melon planting methods and key points

1. Soak the seeds for germination: Soak the golden melon seeds in 30℃ clean water for one night. Take out the seeds and wrap them in moist gauze. Place them in an environment of about 25-30℃ for germination until the seeds reveal white embryos.

2. Sowing and seedling raising: Use sand, leaf mold and garden soil to make a seedling bed, spread the seeds evenly on the seedling bed, cover it with a layer of film after watering, maintain the temperature and humidity of the seeds, and lift the film when the seedlings grow.

3. Planting: When the golden melon grows more than three true leaves, it can be transplanted. When planting, you need to use thin fertilizer frequently and make sure to provide enough water. After the soil surface is dry, water it immediately. After watering, you can also cover the seedlings with a layer of straw to keep them moist.

Key points for managing golden melon

1. Fertilizer and water management

According to the growth trend of golden melon, reasonable water and fertilizer management is carried out to ensure the normal expansion of the fruit and improve the commercial rate of the fruit. After delaying the growth of seedlings, compound fertilizer is applied with water to promote seedling growth. When the young melon enters the period of high nutritional demand, quick-acting potassium sulfate and compound fertilizer need to be applied with water to improve the quality of the fruit.

2. Pest and disease control

Powdery mildew and downy mildew are prone to occur during the growth period of golden melon. Diseased branches should be pruned in time and sprayed with pesticides for treatment. Etherphenol and lauryl alcohol can effectively prevent and control powdery mildew, while silver power, amycin and downy mildew can all prevent and control downy mildew with very good results.
