Temperature and humidity for growing orchids indoors

Temperature and humidity for growing orchids indoors

1. Temperature

Generally speaking, the best growth temperature for orchids is between 20-35 degrees. Too high or too low temperatures are not conducive to plant growth. Orchids can grow rapidly when the temperature is above 20 degrees, and the plant's metabolism is most active between 28-32 degrees. Therefore, when caring for orchids indoors, it is necessary to ensure that the growth temperature of orchids is between 20-35 degrees, and the temperature difference between day and night should be around 10 degrees.

The temperature for caring for orchids should not be lower than 5 degrees, otherwise the plants will be frozen or even die. The temperature should not be higher than 35 degrees, otherwise the growth of the plants will become slow. When the temperature is too high, you can cool it down by spraying water around the plants and increasing ventilation. When the temperature is too low, the plant needs to be placed in a warm place indoors for maintenance.

2. Humidity

Orchids grow well when the relative humidity of the air is 40-70%. In such a humidity environment, the plants appear shiny and glossy. Too dry or too wet will cause adverse reactions in the plants. Placing a hygrometer next to your orchid will give you a visual indication of the humidity in its growing environment.

Every morning when the hygrometer shows less than 40%, you can pour clean water into the water tray of the flower pot, and then remove the clean water when the hygrometer shows 75%. In the afternoon, if the hygrometer shows about 30%, no action is needed and it will rise again in the evening. When the humidity is too high, you can open windows to increase ventilation, which can relatively reduce the humidity.
