The climate and environment for the growth of kudzu root

Requirements for planting kudzu root

1. Temperature conditions

Pueraria root is suitable for growing in a warm and humid environment. It begins to germinate when the average daily temperature is 12 degrees. The most suitable temperature is 20-30 degrees. 25-30 degrees is very suitable for the formation of tubers and has a certain degree of cold resistance.

2. Lighting conditions

Pueraria root prefers warmth and light, and is heat-resistant. The growth of its stems, leaves and tubers requires relatively strong and high light. Pueraria root is also relatively shade-tolerant, and it can grow better under the shade of trees.

3. Moisture conditions

Pueraria root is relatively resistant to high temperature and drought, but not to waterlogging. If the humidity is too high, especially when the water level is relatively high, the root tubers will have more wrinkles and the color of the epidermis will turn dark brown. Watering should be controlled and the plant should be planted in soil with good drainage.

The growing environment of Pueraria root

Pueraria root has strong adaptability and grows on hillsides, roadside grass and relatively shady and moist places. It is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and other places. It likes warm and sunny climatic conditions and has certain requirements for soil. It can only grow well in sandy loam with deep soil layer, loose, fertile and good drainage.

How to plant kudzu root

1. Choose arable land: Before planting kudzu root, you need to choose loose, fertile and well-drained land, deep plow the soil in advance to a depth of about 30 cm, add some farmyard manure in an appropriate amount, break up the soil, rake it finely and evenly, and wait for sowing.

2. Seedling raising and sowing: Pueraria root can be sown around the Qingming Festival. Soak the seeds in 40℃ warm water for 1-2 days and stir them frequently. Then dig holes in the middle of the prepared bed for sowing. The hole depth is 3 cm and the plant spacing is 35-40 cm. Usually 4 to 6 seeds are sown in each hole. Appropriate watering is required after sowing. It will germinate after 7 days.

3. Maintenance and management: Kudzu root grows fast and has a great demand for fertilizer, so it is necessary to apply topdressing at the right time and combine it with inter-row cultivation and weeding. In addition, Kudzu root does not have many diseases and pests. Occasionally, crickets, beetles and other pests will damage the stems and leaves, so it is necessary to spray pesticides in time for prevention and control.
