Cereal planting conditions for temperature, soil and climate requirements

Cereal planting conditions

Cereals are thermophilic crops that prefer a warm, humid and sunny environment. They are suitable for growing in sunny places and have a wide adaptability to soils. They can grow on almost all soils, but they have high yields and good quality in deep and fertile loam. Therefore, high and dry land with good drainage should be selected.

Growing environment of grains

Cereals are suitable for planting in warm places. The seed germination temperature is between 7-8 degrees, the most suitable growth temperature is between 15-25 degrees, the seedling stage can tolerate low temperatures of 1-2 degrees, and the accumulated temperature during the growth period requires 1600-3000 degrees.

Cereals are short-day crops. Sufficient sunlight promotes their development and causes early heading. Insufficient sunlight slows down their development and delays heading. Cereals prefer a humid environment and should be planted in areas with more precipitation.

Grain Planting Methods

1. Grain selection

If you want to grow high-quality and high-yield grains, you must choose good grain varieties. According to local ecological conditions, production conditions, economic conditions, and the damage caused by pests and diseases, you should select varieties with strong disease resistance, lodging resistance, high ear formation rate, and high fruit set rate.

2. Cultivate strong seedlings

The selected grain seeds can be exposed to the sun for two days, soaked in 3% carbendazim solution for 12 hours, taken out, washed and soaked for 3 days, then wrapped in wet sacks, and then kept warm with straw, providing a temperature of 30-35 degrees, and rice sprouts can be stimulated in 24 hours.

3. Seeding and planting

Sow the sprout seeds evenly on the seedbed, cover the seedlings with soil after sowing, then build a shed and cover with film, pay attention to heat preservation and moisture retention, and wait for the seedlings to grow. When the soil in the seedbed appears dry and white, the film should be removed in the morning and evening to irrigate. The film should be removed for ventilation at noon when the temperature is higher.
