Roselle planting time and method

Roselle planting time

Roselle is suitable for planting in spring, specifically from late April to early to mid-May. During this period the temperature has begun to rise and is basically stable at 20 degrees. The seeds will germinate quickly after planting, and the germination rate will be greatly improved.

How to plant Roselle

1. Prepare the soil: Roselle is not very demanding on the soil, ordinary garden soil will do, but if you can use loose, acidic and relatively fertile soil, it will be better and more conducive to growth. Note that the viscosity and alkalinity must not be too heavy. Loosen the soil in advance and apply some base fertilizer to improve the fertility of the soil.

2. Sowing: The seeds of Roselle must be germinated before being planted in the soil. They can be soaked in clean water for 12 hours to allow them to absorb enough water. When planting, the hole sowing method is mostly used. After digging the hole, put four or five seeds in it, and then cover the soil in time.

3. Apply fertilizer and water: Roselle likes to grow in a humid environment. After planting, it is necessary to water and spray it regularly. After the seedlings grow out, it is also necessary to apply fertilizer in time. It is enough to apply diluted nitrogen fertilizer in the seedling stage. With sufficient nutrients, the growth will become more vigorous.

Things to note when planting Roselle

When the Roselle seedlings grow to 15 cm in height, thinning can be carried out. Some weak seedlings and those infected with diseases should be removed, and finally only one strong seedling should be left in each hole. When the seedlings grow to about 80 cm, they need to be topped to encourage the sprouting of more side branches and strong branches.
