When and how to plant edible roses

Edible rose planting time

Edible roses are mostly sown in spring because the climate during this period is warm and stable, which is very suitable for seed germination and young plant growth. If there is no time in spring, you can also choose to do it in autumn.

How to grow edible roses

1. Choose the soil

Edible roses are suitable for growing in soil that is rich in nutrients and relatively loose, so when planting, you can provide yellow loam or garden soil that is rich in organic matter and has good air permeability. Before planting, you can mix decomposed organic fertilizer into the soil to improve soil fertility.

2. Select seedlings

Planting edible roses requires processing of seedlings. Healthy seedlings that are strong and free of wormholes need to have their roots rinsed with clean water, and then the roots that grow too densely and the branches and leaves that grow poorly at the roots of the seedlings need to be cut off to help the plants save nutrients.

3. Planting method

When planting edible rose seedlings, you can apply rooting powder on the bottom, then plant it in the soil and cover the roots with fine soil. After planting, water the soil with a solution of carbendazim to kill the bacteria and insect eggs in it, so that the edible roses can better adapt to the soil environment.

Things to note when growing edible roses

Edible roses need to be watered promptly after planting. It is best to provide nutrient-rich, clean river or lake water to keep the soil moist. You can also provide the seedlings with nutritionally balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers to make the plants grow more vigorously.
