How to Plant Fennel Seeds

Fennel seed planting time

Fennel seeds are usually sown in spring or autumn every year. In spring, they are usually planted in March and April, and in autumn, they are sown in August and September. A warmer climate is more conducive to seed germination, while the temperature in summer is too high and the temperature in winter is too cold.

How to grow fennel seeds

1. Seed selection and germination: In order to increase the germination rate of fennel seeds, they need to be germinated before planting. First, select seeds with fuller grains, then rub them gently, and then soak them in warm water for 12 hours. Then take them out, wrap them with gauze, and place them in an environment of 20 degrees for germination.

2. Land preparation and fertilization: Fennel planting requires loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil. First, the soil must be deeply plowed to a depth of about 20 cm, and then base fertilizer is applied to the soil. You can use farmyard manure, so that the soil will have sufficient fertility.

3. Sowing: When sowing fennel, you can directly sow the seeds in the soil, cover with a thin layer of soil, and water appropriately. Plant them when the seedlings grow to 5-6 cm.

Precautions for daily management of fennel

When caring for fennel, you need to pay attention to the fact that you must regularly till the soil and weed during the seedling stage to prevent some weeds from consuming too much nutrients. You also need to water and fertilize according to its growth to ensure that it has sufficient nutrients for growth and development. Be sure to water it in moderation.
