Spinach planting time and method

Spinach planting time and method

Spinach planting time

Spinach has strong adaptability to the environment and can be planted all year round. The spring planting time is generally after the beginning of spring, when the temperature reaches 5℃, and March is the most suitable month. In summer, it can be sown in stages from May to July, in autumn it can be sown in August and September, and in winter it should be sown in October and November.

How to grow spinach

1. Processing seeds

Before planting spinach, soak the seeds in clean water. After waiting for 30 minutes, discard the shriveled seeds floating on the water surface. Then soak the spinach seeds at the bottom in warm water for 24 hours to increase the activity of the plants and speed up the germination of the seeds.

2. Provide potting soil

After processing the spinach seeds, plant them in a mixture of garden soil, peat soil and river sand. Before planting spinach, choose a soil pot with drainage holes at the bottom to prevent the spinach from rotting during growth.

3. Watering

After sowing the spinach seeds, you can water them thoroughly so that the moisture content in the soil is around 60-70%. When caring for the spinach in the later stage, you will need to replenish water every 3-5 days to prevent the soil surface from drying out and causing the plants to fail to germinate smoothly.

Spinach planting precautions

The planted spinach should be placed in a ventilated environment with sufficient diffuse light, with about 3 hours of light per day to promote the growth of seeds. After the spinach seeds sprout, the light time should be increased. It is best to provide the plants with no less than 5 hours of light per day.
