When and how to plant bamboo

Bamboo planting time

Bamboo likes a warm climate and is best planted in late spring and early summer, when the climate is just right and meets the needs of growth. It can grow and survive as soon as possible after planting. Planting it too early or too late is not appropriate and may affect its survival.

Bamboo Planting Methods

1. Choose the soil

When planting bamboo, you can choose a location with plenty of sunlight and also choose sandy loam with good air permeability. Do not choose heavy, compacted and non-airtight soil. In order to ensure good nutrition, you can apply sufficient base fertilizer and choose organic fertilizer. After applying enough fertilizer, you can deep plow the soil to keep the soil loose.

2. Choose bamboo whip

Bamboo is generally planted using bamboo rhizomes. You can choose bamboo rhizomes that are one to two years old, have no diseases or insect pests, and have full bamboo buds. Some shriveled bamboo rhizomes are difficult to survive.

3. Planting

Plant the bamboo shoots in the soil, generally at a depth of about 20-25 cm. Do not plant them too deep. After planting the bamboo shoots, cover them with soil and then water them thoroughly.

Things to note when planting bamboo

After planting the bamboo, water it in time, and water it more appropriately according to its growth. When the bamboo is lush, apply some fertilizer appropriately. Pay attention to shading in summer, and do a good job of preventing and controlling diseases and pests, especially bamboo aphids. Spray pesticides in time after the disease occurs.
