Impatiens planting time and method

Impatiens planting time and method

Impatiens planting time

It is best to plant Impatiens in April in spring, because the temperature at this time is favorable for its growth. It usually germinates in 7 days and the flowering period can last for about two months. Of course, it can be planted from March to September every year, but the germination speed and flowering period may be affected.

How to plant Impatiens

1. Select soil for making ridges

Before planting Impatiens, you should choose fertile, loose, well-drained sandy soil, then turn the soil over to make ridges. If it is grown in the south, the ridges need to be half a meter to 1 meter high, and the width of the ridges is usually about 1.5. If it is grown in the north, it can be made into flat ridges.

2. Fertilization and watering

After the bed is made, you can apply decomposed organic fertilizer, which can replenish the missing nutrients in the soil, and also allow the seeds to quickly end their dormancy period and take root and sprout. After that, the soil can be moistened.

3. Planting seeds

Place the seeds in the dug trenches, cover them with a thin layer of soil, and control the growth environment temperature at 25 degrees. If the weather is cooler, it is best to cover them with a layer of plastic film to keep warm and moisturized.

Things to note when planting Impatiens

During the growth period of Impatiens, weeding should be done in time to avoid competing with the Impatiens for nutrients, which will make it difficult for it to grow. Topdressing should be done every 15-20 days or so. Organic compound fertilizer can be chosen. After the flowering period, the remaining flowers should be trimmed and organic fertilizer should be applied to replenish nutrients in time.
