Time and method of planting peas

Pea planting time

When planting peas, try to choose the right time. Generally, it is best to plant them in spring from March to May. If you plant them at this time, the seeds will be easier to germinate and the growth will be better. They can also be planted in autumn, preferably in September. The climate at these two times is relatively mild, which is very suitable for their growth.

How to plant peas

1. Choose a seed

Before planting peas, you must choose seeds of good quality. It is best to use seeds with large and full grains, which can increase the germination rate of the seeds. The seeds must also be healthy enough. If you find seeds with diseases and pests, try to pick them out.

2. Processing and germination

After selecting the seeds, you can soak them in salt water, then pick out the seeds floating on the water and throw them away, soak them in water for 24 hours, and when they absorb enough water, take them out and sow them.

3. Planting method

After the pea seeds turn white, they should be planted in the soil, then watered thoroughly, covered with a thin layer of soil, and compacted, then you can wait for them to germinate. After 2-3 days, when they begin to sprout, you can lift the film.

Things to note when planting peas

During the growth period of the pea, it is necessary to water and fertilize in time. The principle of watering is to water when the soil is dry and keep the soil basically moist. Also, apply thin liquid fertilizer. You can water after fertilizing to reduce the occurrence of fertilizer damage. If there are weeds, pull them out in time to reduce nutrient consumption.
