Rose planting time and method

Rose planting time

Roses are generally planted in spring and autumn. Spring is the most suitable season for planting roses because it is the growth period of roses and the survival rate is relatively high. They can bloom in May and June. When sowing in autumn, you need to take measures to keep warm. In addition, the temperature is low and the seeds may not germinate until after winter.

Rose planting method

1. Select seeds: Choose plump, disease-free, mature rose seeds, remove shriveled or damaged seeds, then soak the seeds in sodium chloride solution for about 3-5 minutes and dry them in a ventilated place.

2. Seed germination: Soak the dried seeds in warm water at about 40 degrees for about 4-6 hours. If the water gets cold, continue to add warm water to keep the water temperature at about 40 degrees. Then sow them in moist sandy soil and keep the sand moist. The seeds will germinate in about 30 days.

3. Planting soil: Choose loose, fertile and well-breathable soil. You can use peat soil, sphagnum moss and perlite to mix as nutrient soil. After the soil is prepared, it needs to be steam sterilized to kill the bacteria in the soil, loosen the soil, and then apply some base fertilizer.

4. Transplanting: Plant the germinated seedlings into the soil, cover them with a layer of soil, water them thoroughly, and then place them in a sunny place for maintenance. After transplanting, water them frequently to keep the soil moist, but do not allow water to accumulate. Generally, seedlings will emerge in about two weeks.

Rose planting precautions

Roses are sun-loving plants and need sufficient light during their growth period. If the maintenance environment is dark, they are prone to diseases and pests, and will also grow poorly. It is best to place them in a well-lit place and provide shade if the light intensity is high in summer.
