Magnolia pictures (introduction to morphological characteristics and maintenance methods)

1. Morphological characteristics

1. Leaves: The leaves are papery and broadly obovate in shape, or obovate-elliptical. The length is about 10-18 cm and the width is about 6-12 cm.

2. Flowers: They usually bloom in February and March, and bloom again in July to September. The flower buds are oval and fragrant. There are 9 petals, usually white with a pink base.

3. Fruit: The fruit is cylindrical, about 12 cm long and no more than 5 cm wide. The appearance is brown, the lenticels are white, and the seeds are heart-shaped.

2. Maintenance methods

1. Sunlight: Magnolia prefers sunlight and is usually planted in a sunny environment. Placing it in a shady environment will cause it to grow poorly, become thin and short, and cause its leaves to turn yellow.

2. Watering: Magnolia is sensitive to water and is not tolerant to waterlogging or cold. Water frequently but not excessively, keeping the soil moist at all times, but without any stagnant water. Once a month during the growing season is sufficient, but stop watering during the rainy season.

3. Fertilization: Appropriate fertilization can make the magnolia grow vigorously, with thick green leaves and large and fragrant flowers. Applying compound fertilizer once before flowering can effectively promote flowering. Apply nitrogen fertilizer once after flowering to help it resume growth. Apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in July and August to promote flower bud differentiation. Apply fertilizer once before winter to improve soil activity.
