Difference Between Betel Nut and Olive

1. Difference in appearance

The stem of betel nut is relatively upright and is a tree. It is about 10 meters high and can grow up to 30 meters. It has obvious ring-shaped leaf marks. The olive tree is taller than the former, usually about 10-25 meters high, up to 35 meters high, with a breast diameter of about centimeters.

Betel nut leaves are clustered at the top of the stem, are narrow and lanceolate, hairless on both sides, about 30-60 cm long and 2.5-4 cm wide, composed of pinnae on the top, with irregular teeth on the top. The leaves of olive are papery to leathery, lanceolate or elliptical, smaller than the former, about 6-14 cm long and 2.5.5 cm wide. The veins on the back are hairy and the margins are entire without serrations.

3. Fruit Difference

The betel nut fruit is oblong or ovoid and orange-yellow in color. The olive fruit is oval to spindle-shaped, and is yellow-green when ripe.
