Summer peanut planting time and method

Summer peanut planting time

Peanuts like to grow in a warm environment. If you want to plant them in summer, it is best to do it in June. The climate at this time is conducive to the germination and growth of peanuts. The latest sowing time should not be later than June 20, otherwise the temperature will be too high, which is not conducive to the germination and growth of peanuts.

Summer peanut planting method

1. Land preparation and fertilization

When sowing and planting summer peanuts, it is best to choose flat, loose, fertile and well-drained sandy loam land with a pH value between 5.5-6.5. Before planting, the selected land should be deep plowed and then applied with decomposed organic fertilizer to improve the fertility of the soil, so that the peanuts can grow vigorously after planting.

2. Sowing method

Choose suitable mid-ripening seeds, ensure row spacing of 40 cm, hole spacing of 13-17 cm, and sow 2 seeds in each hole into the soil. After sowing, cover with a thin layer of soil and water appropriately to keep the soil slightly moist. This way, the peanuts will germinate and grow soon.

Precautions for planting summer peanuts

After the summer peanuts emerge, the weeds around them need to be removed in time, and the land needs to be cultivated and weeded regularly. Some thin fertilizers need to be applied during the growing period to promote vigorous growth of peanuts. Peanuts do not have a high demand for water. During the rainy season, the peanuts need to be drained in time, and attention should be paid to the prevention and control of diseases and pests.
