Can Jade Plant be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics methods and precautions

Can jade tree be hydroponically cultivated?

Jade can be grown hydroponically, but many people grow it in soil at home. The maintenance of jade is relatively simple, but hydroponics is not the best way. It is more convenient and requires less skills than soil cultivation. Of course, it is also possible to grow jade hydroponically.

Methods and key points of hydroponic cultivation of Yushu

1. Remove the pot and prune the roots

Before hydroponically cultivating jade plant, it is best to do cuttings first. Insert the branches into the soil and cultivate them for a period of time. Take them out after they have taken root. Remove the jade plant from the pot together with the soil, pat off the soil, rinse it with water, put it in a special disinfectant to sterilize it, rinse it again and remember to cut off all old and rotten roots, but be sure to keep the root system intact.

2. Hydroponic method

Insert the jade plant into the hydroponic container, and the water should completely cover its roots. However, to prevent it from floating, you can add pebbles, small stones, etc. to the bottle to fix the plant. The survival rate of hydroponic jade plants is generally high in spring and summer. You can use clean water directly. It should also be cultivated in a sunny and well-ventilated place. Be aware that excessive exposure to the sun will burn the leaves and make them turn yellow and fall off.

Precautions for water-growing jade plants

1. Container selection

If you want the hydroponic jade plant to grow luxuriantly, you cannot use a transparent container. If the transparent container is exposed to light, it will inevitably cause problems for the jade plant. However, if the hydroponic jade plant is not exposed to light, it will not grow normally. Therefore, it is best to use an opaque container.

2. Change water in time

For hydroponic jade plants, the water should be kept clean and changed every three to five days. Good water quality can prevent bacteria and root rot. Two drops of rooting liquid should be added to the water each time the water is changed until the roots grow out. Then the frequency of changing the water can be reduced. As long as the water is dirty, change the water in time and add nutrient solution to ensure that there are nutrients in the water.
