How to care for the newly bought white palm

How to care for the newly bought white palm

1. Soil

You need to check the soil in the pot of a newly bought anthurium first, because when you buy it, the pot may be full of roots and there is not much soil. If you want the white calla lily to grow well, it must have a good root system. Try to prepare breathable and well-drained soil for it. It is best to disinfect the soil before use. If conditions permit, you can add some base fertilizer at the bottom.

2. Temperature

When you first buy it, you need to let it adapt to the new environment at home. It is best to place it in a warm and humid place. Just keep the temperature at around 20℃, keep the space ventilated and prevent diseases. Once it starts to grow, it can adapt to the environment at home.

3. Watering

Don't water it too much when you first buy it, just keep the soil moist. When the top layer of soil begins to dry out, water again, but don't water it too deeply. Because it generally grows densely, its leaves will press tightly against the soil, which is not conducive to the evaporation of water. If you water the plants too much at one time, they won't have time to absorb the water and will easily cause waterlogging and root rot.

4. Lighting

Anthurium is very shade-tolerant. When you first buy it, try not to place it in a place with direct sunlight such as a balcony to avoid excessive sunlight that may cause it to be unable to adapt to the new environment. In the subsequent breeding process, not too much light is needed. However, when it is blooming, you can give the anthurium an extra hour of light every day. This can help prolong the flowering period and make the flowers better looking and fuller.

5. Fertilization

It does not need to be fertilized when it is just bought, but we need to fertilize it regularly during the growing period. Anthuriums generally grow densely, and it is not recommended to use organic fertilizers as they may burn the branches, leaves and roots. Water-soluble fertilizers and liquid fertilizers can be used instead, and should be used once every half a month during the growing season. It is best to use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers during the flowering period to promote flowering.
