Method of preserving seeds of basil

Basil is actually basil. Its seeds grow inside its fruit. The seeds are egg-shaped, about 2-3 mm long, and dark brown in color. After they mature naturally, you can just pick them off.

The process from flowering to seeding of basil is relatively long. Don't be anxious. Wait until all the flowers at the top of the plant have bloomed, then pick the fruits and remove the surface peel to get the seeds.

Basil seed propagation

Basil is generally propagated by seeds, but the planting time is different in different regions of my country. It is mostly planted in March and April in the south, and in April and May in the north. It will germinate 4-5 days after sowing, and the flowering period is in summer and autumn.

How to plant basil seeds

1. Choose the soil

Basil is relatively tolerant of poor soil, but the soil used for planting must be good in drainage and air permeability. The plant has deep roots, so the soil should be prepared as deep as possible and sufficient base fertilizer should be applied.

2. Sowing

Basil is generally sown in rows, with the row spacing controlled at about 30 cm. After sowing, cover with a thin layer of soil and then wet the soil. Thinning is carried out when the seedlings grow to 10 cm.
