The clod of earth in our countryside has blossomed and become popular all over the world. The flowers are bigger than our faces!

This Van Gogh float can be said to be the most shocking one among all the floats. When you walk closer, you will see that it is so densely packed that even the lines on the face are so realistic that even people with trypophobia dare not look at it!

The news said that this Van Gogh float was mainly built with dahlias. Such a large float must have at least tens of thousands of dahlias.

I have to say that the Dutch people, who are world-famous for their flowers, really like dahlias, which have bright colors, large flower disks and long flowering periods. When Huahua was a child, she only saw her grandfather planting dahlias beside the vegetable garden fence. She didn’t expect it to be so fashionable!

There are many varieties of dahlias, there is always one that catches your eye

Because it is so popular, there are now 30,000 varieties of dahlias, including not only bright red multi-petal ones, but also light-colored single-petal ones. According to statistics, there are nearly 30,000 varieties. Flower lovers who like dahlias may be dazzled by the sight.

Red series:

Hongfei has a very bright red color, large flowers, and the whole plant is relatively tall.

Fu Shou, the flowers are full and the tips of the petals are white.

Purple series:

Beauty is a common dahlia variety with good disease resistance and bright colors.

Vancouver, a new variety, has relatively dense petals and is highly ornamental.

Yellow series:

Chaoying has a red dot on the tip of its leaves, a very distinctive variety.

Xinhuang, the flower disk is large, the leaf tip is white, a little cute~

Dahlia cuttings and divisions, no problem

Dahlias are not only beautiful, but also have a long flowering period. They can bloom in spring and autumn, and can bloom for one or two months. If you are interested in flowers, besides going to the flower market to buy, you can also learn about cuttings and division from Hua Hua!

Cuttings:

1. Cut off the dahlia branches of the current year, each section is 8-15 cm long and has a pair of leaves to carry out the necessary photosynthesis.

2. The stems of dahlias are relatively brittle, so it is best to use moist sandy soil for cuttings (wet the sandy soil before cuttings). First, use scissors to make a hole and insert the flower branch 2-3 cm deep.

3. After the cuttings are completed, they must be placed in a shaded place, away from the sun, and sprayed with water every 1-2 days. After about a week, the flower branches will be upright, indicating that they are taking root and can be placed in a location with better light.

4. After 15-20 days of cuttings, you can transplant or pot them. Be careful not to damage the roots. There is no need to remove the sand on the roots. Bury them directly in the new potting soil, compact them and water them thoroughly. Place them in a cool place and acclimate to the pot. You can maintain them normally after a week.

Division:

1. Now you can divide the plant. The rhizome of dahlia is like sweet potato. After the flowers have finished blooming, control the water, prune the branches, dig out the roots, and tear off a few small "sweet potatoes".

2. After tearing them off, put all the tubers together in a ventilated place to dry. After 2-3 days, bury them in dry sand. Cover them with plastic film or straw in winter to facilitate wintering. Flower lovers in the north can grow them completely.

3. In the spring of next year, you can dig out the buried tubers and replant them.

If you have seedlings, you don't have to worry about their growth. The flowers will be bigger than the pots.

1. Soil

We have a long history of growing dahlias. This flower is very easy to grow. Ordinary garden soil mixed with some sand will do, or you can use leaf mold. In short, any soil with good drainage and good air permeability will do.

2. Lighting and watering

Dahlias prefer an environment with diffused light and good lighting, but not direct sunlight. Maintaining bright light for more than 6 hours a day is conducive to flowering. You don't need to water too much. Just water thoroughly when the soil is dry.

3. Fertilization

Dahlias can bloom in spring and autumn. Remember to add some fertilizer before and after the flowering period to make the flowers more numerous and larger. You can add some chicken manure fertilizer, nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer, nutrient solution, etc. You can also water them with fermented rice water or bean dregs water. Once a month, stop in summer and winter.
