Can irises be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics cultivation methods and precautions

Can irises be grown hydroponically?

Iris is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Iridaceae family, often used as an ornamental plant in garden flower beds. Iris can be grown in water. Although both soil and water can ensure its good growth, in comparison, hydroponic irises are cleaner, easier to maintain, and more stylish and beautiful when placed at home.

Iris hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. Before hydroponics, you must select healthy iris plants, preferably those that are in the growth period. You must ensure that its root system develops healthily and completely, so that the survival rate will be higher.

2. Carefully remove the dust on the roots of the iris plant, then wash them with clean water, properly trim the rotten roots, old roots, and dead leaves, then soak and disinfect the roots for about 10 minutes and take them out. After disinfection, place them in a cool place to dry slightly.

3. Prepare a suitable hydroponic container, preferably a transparent glass container, so that you can easily observe the health of the roots and the water quality. Then put the plants in and add an appropriate amount of clean water.

Precautions for growing irises in water

1. After placing the iris plant in the hydroponic container, pay attention to its later care and management. Try to place it in an environment with soft diffuse light. Appropriate exposure to sunlight is conducive to the photosynthesis of the iris. At the same time, remember to change the water in the container regularly to keep the water clean.

2. Change the water frequently. If root rot occurs, remember to remove it in time and cut off the rotten roots.
