Growth habits of bent bamboo

Bend bamboo likes shade, humidity, high temperature, is resistant to waterlogging, strong in fertilizer tolerance and cold resistance, and prefers semi-shaded environment. It is suitable for growing in well-drained sandy soil or semi-mud and alluvial clay. The temperature is suitable for 18℃~24℃. It can grow all year round. When the temperature is lower than 13℃, the plant will dormant and stop growing. When the temperature is too low, yellow-brown spots will appear on the tips and edges of the leaves due to insufficient water absorption by the roots. The minimum temperature for wintering should be above 10℃.

How to cultivate bent bamboo

Soil: You can choose some soft soil. It is best to keep the soil loose, drainable and breathable. We can also prepare it ourselves.

Temperature: In summer, try to avoid exposure to strong sunlight. We can grow it in a semi-shaded environment.

Light: The suitable growth temperature for bent bamboo is 20 to 28 degrees Celsius, so we often put it in a warmer room.

Watering: In daily management, do not water too much. In summer, you can water once a day, but in winter, you need to strictly control watering. In addition, newly transplanted plants need to be watered thoroughly once, and then enter normal maintenance.

Fertilization: When just planting or transplanting, you can mix some fertilizer into the soil as base fertilizer. After entering the normal growth state, topdressing is required, using 0.5% concentration of urea, and watering at the same time.

Pruning: The main method is to disinfect the prepared scissors first. It is best to do it in summer from June to September, and prune from the top to the bottom. Water it in time after pruning, and apply compound fertilizer solution once every 25 days.

Things to note when growing bent bamboo

Bent bamboo does not like wind and sun, so do not place it next to the TV or in places where it is often blown by air conditioners or electric fans, as this will cause the tips and edges of the leaves to dry out.

If the bent bamboo does not take root for a long time, flower lovers can consider re-cutting the roots. The correct way to cut the roots is to use a knife to cut horizontally half a centimeter below the bent bamboo node, because this position is easiest to take root.
