Growth habits of potted roses

Potted roses like the sun, and when grown indoors, they should be placed on a sunny balcony for maintenance. The soil for potted roses should be loose, fertile, and well-drained. Note that roses grow poorly in clay loam and do not bloom well. They should be planted in a well-ventilated place away from the wall to prevent sunlight reflection, burning the flower buds, and affecting flowering.

How to grow potted roses

Soil: Roses like loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil, and of course, good air permeability and water permeability. Leaf humus is the best choice for planting roses. In order to prevent water accumulation in the pot soil, we also need to add some granular soil to the leaf humus to enhance the drainage of the soil.

Light: Try to place the roses in a place with sufficient light and maintain them in full sunlight. Only with sufficient light can the roots of the roses absorb nutrients better and grow stronger. At the same time, sunlight has a good bactericidal effect and can effectively reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests, killing two birds with one stone.

Watering: As long as you see the soil surface is dry, you should water it thoroughly in time. However, in too hot summer and cold winter, wait 2-3 days after you see the soil surface is dry before watering the roses. This way the roses will absorb water better.

Fertilization: During the peak growing seasons in spring and autumn, top dressing should be applied in time, with some compound fertilizers such as Huaduoduo No. 2 which are mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium elements, until the roses bloom. At other times, it is sufficient to supplement it with nutritionally balanced compound fertilizer once a month.

Precautions for potted rose cultivation

Acidic soil: When watering, you can add one or two drops of vinegar to the water. This can lower the pH value of the soil and make the gardenia grow better.

Fertilize at the right time: Roses prefer fertilizers, so you need to fertilize them during their growth period, with thin fertilizers applied frequently. Apply some phosphorus fertilizer before flowering to help them bloom better.
