Is the lotus a shade-loving or sun-loving plant?

Does the lotus prefer shade or sun?

Lotus is a sun-loving plant, also known as lotus. It is a perennial aquatic herb of the genus Nelumbo. It can be eaten and also viewed. It likes light very much, so when planting it, it must be placed in a light environment.

This will not only allow it to absorb sufficient sunlight, but will also be better for the growth of the lotus and promote the bright and gorgeous appearance of its flowers.

Lotus basking in the sun

Lotus has requirements for light. Growing in warm, humid, relatively calm shallow water or pond and absorbing enough sunlight can make it grow rapidly and also help its flowers absorb enough nutrients.

During its peak growth period, it should be exposed to more sunlight. Lotus can be exposed to the sun, but because it is extremely intolerant of shade, it will show a strong tendency to phototropism when growing in semi-shade.

Growth habits of lotus

1. Lotus likes to grow in warm, humid places with fertile soil. Pay attention to maintaining sufficient nutrients in the soil.

2. It needs sufficient water during its growth period. Large lotus requires more water, while small ones require less water. Be careful not to lack water, otherwise the flowers will dry up and die.

3. It likes sunlight. In order to make the flowers more colorful and beautiful, it should be exposed to sufficient light.

4. It is not cold-resistant, and the temperature in winter should not be lower than 0℃, but it is heat-resistant and can grow when the temperature in summer is above 30℃, so its most suitable growth temperature is 15-24℃.
