Cabbage seedlings emerge after sowing

Cabbage seedlings emerge after sowing

Cabbage sowing time

The time when cabbage seedlings emerge is generally determined by the ambient temperature and moisture. Generally, if cabbage is planted in an environment suitable for its growth, it will germinate in about 3 to 4 days. If cabbage is sown in winter, the germination speed of the seeds will be very slow, and it will take about 5 to 10 days to germinate, or even the seeds may not germinate.

Cabbage sowing time and method

1. Sowing time: Cabbage can actually be sown all year round. It has a strong adaptability to the environment and is suitable for sowing in any environment. However, the best sowing time is March to April in spring and August to September in autumn. The survival rate of sowing at this time is high and the cabbage yield is also high.

2. Sowing soil: Cabbage is not picky about soil, but it is more suitable to grow in loose soil, breathable and fertilizer-retaining, neutral or slightly alkaline soil. We can use ordinary garden soil mixed with leaf mold as the substrate, and add an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer.

3. Planting: When sowing, dig a 1.5 cm hole in the soil, sprinkle the cabbage seeds in the soil, 3 to 5 seeds in each hole, fill the soil, spray some water on the soil, control the ambient temperature at around 15 to 22 degrees Celsius, and wait for the seeds to take root and germinate.

How to manage cabbage after sowing and germination

After the cabbage is sown and seedlings emerge, sufficient water and nutrients must be provided. It needs to be watered every 3 to 4 days. On rainy days, drainage must be done to prevent the cabbage from root rot. Organic fertilizer should also be applied every 15 to 20 days to help the cabbage grow.
