Growth habits of wolftail fern

Wolftail fern has high temperature requirements and is neither resistant to high temperatures nor low temperatures. The suitable growth temperature is 20℃-26℃. It will grow slowly or stop growing at temperatures above 30℃ or below 15℃. The temperature cannot be lower than 5℃ during the winter.

Wolftail fern likes warm and dry environment and is not cold-resistant; it likes loose, fertile, well-drained sandy loam. It needs to be moved into a greenhouse to overwinter in winter, and the greenhouse should be kept at around 5℃ to prevent freezing.

How to grow wolftail fern

Pot soil selection: You can choose flower pots according to the needs of viewing, or you can choose some unique flower pots, such as special snakewood pots or a piece of rotten wood. The soil should be breathable and have good drainage. Leaf mold can be used.

Light requirements: Wolftail fern prefers a semi-shaded growth environment, bright diffuse light, and avoids direct sunlight. For home cultivation of Wolftail fern, potted plants or hanging pots can be placed in brightly lit places indoors for maintenance.

Temperature requirements: The suitable temperature for the growth of Wolf's Tail Fern is between 18℃-26℃. It is not resistant to high temperatures or cold. If the growth environment temperature of Wolf's Tail Fern is too high or too low, it will lead to poor growth. Be careful not to let the temperature drop below 5℃ in winter.

Watering method: Wolftail fern requires moist soil in the pot and needs to maintain sufficient water supply during the growing season. It can be watered every 2-3 days, but be careful not to water too much.

Fertilization method: Wolftail fern does not have high requirements for fertilizer and does not like concentrated fertilizer. Generally, when applying fertilizer, you can apply decomposed thin fertilizer water. During the maintenance process, you can also apply some foliar fertilizer.

Pruning method: Wolftail fern needs to be pruned. The pruning time should be chosen in sunny weather. The dead branches and rotten leaves, diseased branches and weak leaves, and long branches and leaves should be removed. After pruning, it should be placed in a cool environment to slow down the growth. It will take about 1 to 2 weeks for the incision to heal and restore growth activity.

Precautions for cultivating wolftail fern

Pests and diseases: The diseases that occur during the growth of wolftail fern are mainly root rot, and the insect pests are mainly aphids and red spiders, both of which are caused by environmental factors.

Reproduction method: Wolftail fern is a fern plant, has no seeds, and generally reproduces through spores. However, most families breed it through cuttings in spring.
