What are the cultivation methods and precautions of green leaf spider plant

Growth habits of green leaf spider plant

Green-leafed spider plant likes warm, humid, semi-shady environment. It has strong adaptability and is relatively drought-resistant. It grows best in well-drained, loose and fertile sandy soil. It is not demanding on light and is generally suitable for growing under medium light conditions. The suitable temperature for growth is 15-25℃, and the temperature for overwintering is 5℃. If the room temperature is kept above 12℃ in winter, the plant can grow normally.

Green leaf spider plant cultivation method

Soil requirements: Use loose, breathable soil with an acidic or neutral pH.

Watering method: It is afraid of moisture and waterlogging, so make sure the soil is slightly moist, neither dry nor waterlogged, otherwise it will cause serious harm to the plant.

Fertilization method: Its requirements for fertilizer are not high. Generally, the pot is changed every 2-3 years. When changing the pot, organic fertilizer or compound fertilizer should be added to the soil.

Pruning method: Cut off the yellow leaves at any time. Repot once in March every year, cut off the old roots, rotten roots and excess fibrous roots. In early to mid-May, cut off some of the old leaves of the spider plant, which will promote the sprouting of more new leaves and small spider plants.

Change pots in time: The root system of Chlorophytum is quite developed. The pots should be changed in time after cultivation for a period of time to avoid root accumulation, which will cause yellowing leaves and withering of Chlorophytum.

Precautions for growing green leaf spider plants

Apply nitrogen fertilizer: We can apply some nitrogen fertilizer or compound fertilizer in the pot every month. When applying fertilizer, be careful not to make the concentration of the fertilizer too high. Pay attention to applying thin fertilizers frequently and water once after applying fertilizers.

Reasonable pruning: Chlorophytum will have diseased leaves and dead leaves during its growth process. If we prune the unhealthy leaves of Chlorophytum in time, we can avoid nutrient waste and promote the germination of new leaves.
