How to propagate the succulent plant Jinhuangxing by cuttings

How to propagate the succulent plant Jinhuangxing by cuttings

The succulent plant is a common succulent plant that can be propagated by leaf cuttings and stem cuttings. The best time to do this is in spring and autumn, when the temperature is suitable and more conducive to the survival of the plant. Note that the scissors used to cut the plant must be sterilized before use. After cutting, keep the soil slightly moist and wait for it to take root.

Cutting time of Jinhuangxing

It is best to take cuttings of the plant Jinhuangxing in spring and autumn , when the temperature is most suitable and the survival rate of cuttings is higher. In addition, it is also possible to take cuttings in winter, but you need to pay attention to warming and moisturizing.

Cutting method of Jinhuangxing

1. Top cuttings

Cut off the top of the Jinhuangxing with a knife, sterilize and disinfect, and place the wound in a ventilated place to dry. Then insert it into the prepared soil, which needs to be loose and fertile, with good air permeability and drainage. Wait for 7-10 days for it to grow successfully.

2. Leaf cuttings

Take the thick and healthy leaves of the Jinhuangxing, place them in a ventilated and cool place, wait for the wound to dry, and then directly insert them into the soil. Place them in an environment with a temperature of about 20 degrees for growth and development.

3. Branch cuttings

Cut off the well-growing branches of the golden star with tools, sterilize them with wood ash, wait for the wound to dry and then insert it into the soil. Place it in a cool and ventilated place, and it will take about a month for it to take root and sprout.

4. Division and cutting

Cut off 20cm long ramets from the mother plant of Jinhuangxing and sterilize them with carbendazim. To prevent the mother plant and ramets from rotting due to separation infection, place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

Then directly insert it into the soil for planting, and use a small amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer. It will take about a month for the roots to develop, and water it every 2-3 days, with the temperature above 20 degrees. Keep the soil moist and receive more than 5 hours of light every day.

Maintenance of Jinhuangxing after cutting

After cutting, the Jinhuangxing needs to control watering . It must wait until the leaves grow out before watering, otherwise the plant will be infected with bacteria. After the young shoots grow out, you can slowly give them scattered light , which is more conducive to the growth of the young shoots.
