Potatoes are a sun-loving crop that prefers a sunny growing environment. The requirements for light during the growth period of the plant are relatively high. The more abundant the light, the faster the plant grows. An overly shady environment will cause the plant to grow poorly.

Although potatoes like light, they do not need light at all growth stages. A dark environment is required before the seedling stage of the plant. Long periods of light are needed during the seedling and growth stages. Insufficient light will cause tissue hardening.

Potatoes can be exposed to the sun, because only when the leaves of the plant receive sufficient light can they carry out photosynthesis. During the tuber growth period, sufficient light can also make the potato tubers form faster.

Potato growth habits

Potatoes prefer cold weather and are not resistant to high temperatures. They like to grow in a cool, well-lit environment. The most suitable growth temperature is 17-21°C, and the annual precipitation in the planting area should be between 400-500 mm.
