When is the best time to sow rice?

Rice can be divided into early, middle and late rice according to its production season. Early rice is generally sown in late March to early April, middle rice is generally sown in early April to late May, and late rice is generally sown in mid-to-late June.

You can also choose different time periods to plant rice according to different regions. For example, the area south of the Yangtze River generally plants two seasons of rice. The first season of rice is sown in early April and harvested in early July, and the second season of rice is sown in early July and harvested in mid-October.

Rice sowing method

Watering the seedbed: Generally, the seedbed should be watered once about 2 days before sowing. It must be watered thoroughly and then finished. Wait until the water on the seedbed gradually seeps down until there is no mud on the surface, then sow.

Sowing: When sowing, half of the seeds should be in the soil and half should be exposed. The depth should be kept consistent as much as possible, so that the seedlings that grow will grow more evenly.

Pat the soil: After sowing, use a certain tool to gently pat the soil so that the top of the seed is flush with the ground.

Cover with manure: Then cover it with manure with a thickness of 0.8 cm to 1.1 cm. It is best to use dry manure with very good air permeability, which will be conducive to the rooting of rice seeds.

Post-sowing management of rice

Temperature management: Cover the film after sowing and control the temperature inside the film below 35℃ before germination. From germination to the two-leaf stage, pay attention to controlling the temperature at 20-25℃ to prevent high temperature from burning the seedlings. Then remove the film and harden the seedlings according to weather conditions.

Water management: from the time the film is removed from the seedling bed to the stage when the seedlings have two leaves and one heart, apply a thin layer of water on the moisture surface. After the three-leaf stage, maintain a 2-3 cm water layer in the field to promote tillering. 5-7 days before pulling out the seedlings and transplanting, irrigate with a 5-10 cm water layer to facilitate pulling out the seedlings.

Top dressing management: If no fertilizer is applied to the seedbed or no seedling strengthening agent is used, apply 10 to 15 kg of urea per mu according to the seedling conditions when the seedlings have two leaves and one heart; apply 5 to 7 kg of urea per mu 7 days before transplanting.

Pest and disease control: After removing the film from the seedling bed, use Rui Miao Qing or 30-40 grams of 45% carbendazim + 3-4 grams of 10% imidacloprid + 1-2 grams of Bi Hu, mixed with 10 kg of water and sprayed for each seedling field to prevent damping-off disease, seedling death, seedling rot, etc.
