Salvia miltiorrhiza has great medicinal value. Its dried roots and rhizomes are the medicinal parts. There has been a great demand for them in recent years, so artificial cultivation of Salvia miltiorrhiza is very popular. Here is an introduction to the whole process of planting Salvia miltiorrhiza. 1. Soil Salvia miltiorrhiza prefers a warm and humid climate, and prefers sandy loam with deep, fertile soil, good drainage and rich in humus. 2. Land preparation Around the beginning of winter, deep plowing is done to a depth of about 30 cm to allow the lower soil to weather. Plowing is done once more in the spring of the following year. After breaking and harrowing, beds are made that are 110 to 120 cm wide and 15 to 20 cm high. When preparing the land, apply 1500~2000kg of base fertilizer such as compost or manure per mu. 3. Cutting propagation There are root division, cuttings and seed propagation. Cuttings are generally used for propagation. Take the above-ground stems of Salvia miltiorrhiza in May or June, cut them into 10 to 15 small sections, cut off the lower leaves, and cut off 1/2 of the upper leaves. Cut and plant immediately, and do not leave it for too long to avoid drying out. In the prepared ridges, bury the cuttings obliquely along the furrows at a depth of 7em, with a row spacing of 25 to 30cm and a plant spacing of 10cm, leaving 3 to 6cm above the ground. Water to keep it moist, provide shade, and wait until the roots grow to about 3cm before transplanting into the field. Cut off the rooted strips and plant them directly. Pay attention to watering and they will survive. 4. Field management In mid-April, when the seedlings are 6-7cm above the soil, loosen the soil and weed. From early June when the flowers bloom to August, loosen the soil and weed while applying topdressing, applying 1500-2000kg of diluted human manure, 10-15kg of superphosphate or 25-50kg of cake fertilizer per mu. Pay attention to drainage of Salvia miltiorrhiza during the rainy season, and irrigate or water it when the weather is dry during the seedling stage and seedling stage. During the flowering period, except for plants prepared for seed harvesting, the moss must be removed at several times and the flower moss must be cut off to facilitate root growth. 5. Pest and disease control Salvia miltiorrhiza leaf blight, also known as leaf spot disease, is a fungal disease that harms Salvia miltiorrhiza leaves. In rainy seasons, high field humidity is conducive to the disease. For prevention and control, choose disease-free and healthy seeds, and soak them in 1% Bordeaux liquid for 10 to 15 minutes for disinfection before sowing to reduce the risk of bacteria in the seeds; field management requires timely loosening of the soil and weeding, increase of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, drainage, reduction of field humidity and enhancement of plant disease resistance; spray 1% Bordeaux liquid at the early stage of the disease, and continue spraying 2 to 3 times every 7 to 14 days or spray with 1000 times diluted 50% carbendazim. Root rot, also known as root rot, is a fungal disease that causes devastating losses to Salvia miltiorrhiza. For prevention and control, use 800-1000 times diluted 50% thiophanate in the initial stage. That’s it |
