1. What family of plants is it?

Asparagus fern is a plant of the Asparagaceae family. It is also called cloud pine, prickly asparagus, and cloud bamboo. It is a climbing plant. When grown in the natural environment, it can usually grow to 3-6m in height, while it is lower when grown in potted plants. The asparagus fern plant has many branches that are very slender, and the leaf-like branches are usually clustered in groups of 10-13. The origin is eastern and southern South Africa. It is now distributed in many regions of China and is widely cultivated.

2. Do you prefer acidic or alkaline soil?

Asparagus fern is a plant that likes acidic soil, usually slightly acidic soil is better, and alkaline soil should be avoided. The soil must also have good looseness and drainage, otherwise if water accumulates in the soil, it will damage the root system. When raising it at home, you can use a mixture of garden soil, leaf mold and river sand. After preparing the soil, you can add some rotted animal manure as base fertilizer.

3. Maintenance methods

1. Light: When caring for it, you can place it in semi-shade, or usually place it in a place with scattered light. Asparagus fern cannot be exposed to excessive sunlight, but it can be exposed to the sun all day in winter.

2. Water: Watering is different in different climate environments. In spring and autumn, it is usually watered every 3-5 days, while in summer, it can be watered every other day. Watering should be reasonable, and moist soil will be more conducive to its growth.

3. Temperature: It grows well in a warm environment, and the best maintenance temperature is around 15℃-25℃. The maintenance temperature in winter should be above 10℃, and in summer it should be controlled below 32℃.
