Is the pomegranate tree a shade or sun-loving plant?

Does the pomegranate tree prefer shade or sun?

The pomegranate tree is a plant that likes to grow in a sunny environment. It cannot do without light throughout the growing season. Adequate light can enable it to better absorb nutrients and grow larger and juicier fruits.

Pomegranate tree basking in the sun

Pomegranate trees like light and need to grow in a place with sufficient light. As a result, the pomegranate should be kept in proper light to extend its viewing period.

Non-fruiting pomegranate potted plants and bonsai are relatively cold-resistant during the dormant period and do not have high requirements for light. They only need to be placed in an enclosed balcony at around 0℃ to overwinter.

Pomegranate trees can be exposed to the sun. They like the sun very much. Exposing them to more sun during the growth process can promote their nutrient absorption and produce better fruits.

However, the pomegranate trees that have just been planted in the summer cannot be exposed to the sun. They need to go through a shade stage for about 15 days, and they must also be given moderate scattered light during the shade stage.

Pomegranate tree growth habits

Pomegranate trees are fertilizer-loving and like to grow in loose soil that has strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities and is warm and humid. In addition to sufficient light, it needs enough water and suitable temperature during its growth period. It also needs a well-ventilated environment, which is conducive to the development of the pomegranate. Pomegranate trees should be planted in sunny courtyards or gardens.
