Calendula pests and control methods

Calendula pests and control methods

Calendula officinalis

Symptoms of harm

The human-marked moth is a common pest of marigold, but it is rarely cared for at home. The larvae of this insect mainly feed on the leaf flesh, dispersing the damage and eating away at the leaves, causing leaf mutilation and holes, leaving your marigolds unrecognizable.

Prevention and treatment methods

Before winter comes, spray pesticides in time to eliminate insects and sterilize, and take preventive measures.

The density of the human pollen moth is small and its resistance to pesticides is weak. When there are too few of them, they can be removed manually. Then spray a mixture of 1500 times Guoguang Yi Ke and 2000 times Le Ke . It can be used 1-2 times in a row with an interval of 7-10 days. Drugs can be rotated to delay the development of resistance.

Calendula aphids

Symptoms of harm

Aphids are a stubborn pest that can occur from seedlings to the end of flowering. Aphids may appear on a large scale during spring budding and feed on branches and leaves. In autumn, it will harm the buds and petals. The affected plants turn yellow and deform, the flower buds rot, and the flowering period is shortened.

Prevention and treatment methods

After finding aphids, you can scrub them with clean water or soapy water at home, which is very effective.

When there are many aphids, you can use 1500-3000 times diluted 40% oxydemeton-methyl, 1000 times diluted 25% phosmet, or 1500 times diluted 50% aphidicide emulsion.

Calendula Red Spider

Symptoms of harm

Red spider mites mostly occur in the high temperature season in summer. In the early stage, they mainly appear on the back of leaves, sucking branches and leaves, causing the leaves to dry and yellow. During the flowering period, they will damage the petals and cause the flowers to wither.

Prevention and treatment methods

After discovering the plants, use 1000 times diluted 40% omethoate, 1000 times diluted 80% dichlorvos, or 1000~1500 times diluted 40% dicofol, all of which have significant effects.

Strengthen maintenance at ordinary times, and spray with clean water frequently when the weather is dry in summer.
