How to keep water bamboo from dying in winter

How to keep water bamboo from dying in winter

1. Keep warm

Water bamboo is afraid of frost. If the maintenance temperature is lower than 5℃, the plant will easily be frostbitten, and may even have yellow leaves or wither. Before the arrival of frost every year, the potted plants need to be moved to an indoor heating room for maintenance to provide a warm environment for the water bamboo.

2. Get more sun

The light in winter is warm and soft. When growing water bamboo indoors, you must get more sunlight. Sufficient light can increase the indoor maintenance temperature and allow the water bamboo to safely overwinter. Good light is also beneficial for the water bamboo to accumulate nutrients and keep the leaves green and shiny.

3. Change water regularly

When caring for water bamboo indoors in winter, if it is hydroponically grown, be sure to regularly replace the clean water. The clean water should be aired in the sun for a day in advance to keep the water temperature consistent with the air temperature to prevent the plant's root rot due to water pollution and low water temperature.

4. Water-to-soil culture

If the indoor temperature is low, it is best to transfer the hydroponic plants to soil culture, and control the water appropriately after transferring to soil culture, so as to reduce the possibility of water bamboo being frostbite. When the spring comes and the flowers bloom next year, gradually increase the amount of watering, or wash the roots and then transfer to hydroponics.

5. Notes

When caring for water bamboo indoors in winter, keep it away from windows and prevent it from being blown by cold wind, but also do not make the maintenance environment too closed. You can open the windows for ventilation at noon when the temperature is best every day, replace the fresh air, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests in the water bamboo.
