How to grow Kalanchoe so that it blooms

How to grow Kalanchoe so that it blooms

Kalanchoe flowering time

Kalanchoe usually blooms around December every year. Its flowering period is relatively long, lasting about 3 months after flowering, and will gradually fade in March of the following year.

Generally, Kalanchoe can only bloom once a year. It will bloom after about half a year of cultivation after planting, but it requires a good growing environment.

How to grow and bloom Kalanchoe

1. Soil : When caring for Kalanchoe, you need to be careful not to use heavy clay soil, otherwise it will lead to poor growth and affect future flowering. Usually, loose, fertile, well-drained soil is used, preferably slightly acidic soil.

2. Water : Kalanchoe is drought-resistant, so it does not need to be watered frequently. During the growing season, you can water it every 2-3 days to keep the soil moist. In winter, you must also control the amount of water to avoid waterlogging.

3. Fertilizer : During the growth period of Kalanchoe, fertilizer can be applied every 15-20 days. Usually a thin compound liquid fertilizer is used, which can promote its strong growth. After the flower buds are formed in November, potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be applied 1-2 times. After flowering, there will be more flowers.

4. Light : Kalanchoe is a light-loving plant. During normal care, it needs to be placed in a place with sufficient light, which is conducive to its growth and development. It is also helpful for the formation of flower buds during the flowering period. However, it needs appropriate shade in summer.
