Where do lotus roots like to grow?

Lotus root generally likes to grow in swamps, mostly in hot and rainy areas. At the same time, it also likes to grow in the mud of lotus ponds, and rice fields are also places where lotus roots like to grow. Lotus root can be eaten raw or cooked, and is one of the common dishes.

Lotus root is native to India. Since it was introduced to my country, it has been distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Guangdong and other regions. Among them, Jiangsu ranks first in China in terms of planting area and output.

Lotus root growth environment

Lotus root belongs to the Magnoliaceae subclass and is a large aquatic herb. It prefers to grow and develop in a warm and humid climate, deep and fertile soil, and sufficient sunlight. Under artificial cultivation, it is mostly planted in early April south of the Yangtze River and in early May in the north.

Lotus root growing conditions

Lotus root has very high requirements for the temperature and humidity of the growing environment, and the requirements at different growth stages are very different. Therefore, when the lotus root is growing, the temperature should be kept at around 15-30℃, and not lower than 5℃ in winter; the humidity needs to be maintained at 80%, and the water level should be careful not to submerge the lotus leaves, otherwise it will cause the leaves to die.
