How long is the growing cycle of cauliflower?

Cauliflower growth cycle

The growth cycle of cauliflower is 40-60 days. The growth cycle of cauliflower can be divided into germination stage, seedling stage, lotus setting stage, flower ball stage and flowering and fruiting stage. It is also divided into early-maturing varieties that are harvested about 50 days after planting, mid-maturing varieties that are harvested 65 days after planting, mid-late-maturing varieties that are harvested 80 days after planting, and late-maturing varieties that are harvested 100 days after planting.

Cauliflower in my country is mainly distributed in the Haihe River Basin, the Yellow River Basin, the Yangtze River Basin and the southeast coastal areas; Gansu, Shaanxi, Hebei, Liaoning, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Yunnan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Fujian, Guangdong and other places are the main cauliflower planting areas.

Cauliflower growth rate

Cauliflower grows fast. Seedlings will grow into seeds within half a month to a month of planting. Generally, they can be harvested about 50 days after spring sowing and 65 days after autumn sowing.

Cauliflower Growth Cycle Management

Temperature management: Seeds can germinate at 2℃-3℃, but 251℃ germinates fastest. The optimum temperature for vegetative growth is 8℃-24°C, and the optimum temperature for flower bulb growth is 15°C-18℃. Temperatures below 81℃ will cause slow growth, and temperatures above 25℃ will cause small and loose bulbs. In seed production, this will lead to abnormal development and loss of pollen germination power. The optimum temperature for flowering and fruiting is 15℃-19℃.

Fertilization management: In addition to organic fertilizer, 22-30 tons of human feces and urine should be added per hectare for the basal fertilizer of early-maturing varieties. The growth period of medium- and late-maturing varieties is long, and the basal fertilizer should be applied in combination with stable manure and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Generally, 40-75 tons of stable manure should be applied per hectare. After planting and slowing down the seedlings, topdressing should be applied once to promote vegetative growth and build a strong vegetative body as soon as possible. When the diameter of the flower ball grows to 2-5 cm, fertilization and watering should be applied in time to ensure the mineral nutrients required for the development of the flower ball. Generally, topdressing is required 2-3 times from planting to harvesting.
