Where do cranberries like to grow?

Cranberries generally prefer to grow in places in the northern hemisphere with abundant water resources, cold weather and highly acidic soil. At the same time, cranberries also like to grow on vines in depressions. They are a type of berry that grows on short vines.

There are not many places where cranberries are produced. They are limited to Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Maine and other states in the northern United States, Quebec and Columbia in Canada, Chile in South America, and northeastern Europe. In my country, its production areas are mainly concentrated in the Greater Khingan Range area.

Cranberry growing environment

Cranberries have a harsh growing environment and can only survive in cool, moist and acidic peat soils. Currently, they are mainly cultivated in wetlands, mountains, water tanks, ditches, artificial ponds and other places.

Cranberry Growing Conditions

Cranberries have high requirements for the temperature of the growing environment. They need low temperatures and cannot grow in hot weather. At the same time, cranberries have relatively high requirements for soil moisture and acidity. Acidic peat soil is more suitable for its growth. The pH value of the soil is best between 4.0 and 5.0. Moreover, cranberries do not take deep roots, so the soil surface should be covered with three or four centimeters of sand.
